Hospital)DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:The Inpatient Psychiatry Float
Department covers Lewis 2 (Geriatric) and West 2 (Adult).Lewis 2 is
a 22 bed Geri Psych/Behavioral Health Unit for patient population
55+. We provide a vibrant activities program along with special
group sessions and programming to provide support. A special group
room houses musical instruments, art supplies and other items to
engage individual patient strengths and interests. Patients are
cared for by an entire team consisting of: Psychiatrists,
Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Case Managers, Milieu Therapists
and Nursing Assistants.West 2 is a 22 bed acute care for Adult
Psych/Behavioral Health patients ages 19-64 on a behavioral health
unit. The unit is dedicated to providing exceptional care to people
in our community with mental health and substance abuse illness. We
established a philosophy of caring for patients who need mental
health services with kindness, respect and dignity, while we
provide them with a supportive environment and treatment to help
them heal. Our program is dedicated to depression, bipolar
disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, substance abuse and
psychotic diagnoses. Our primary objective: we work to help our
patients get better so they can live better lives.The role of a
Psych RN is to provide quality patient care according to Cambridge
Health Alliance standards of nursing practice and the role
expectations of the patient care unit, including administration of
medications and treatments. RN must demonstrate ability to respond
to medical and psychiatric emergencies in a prompt, precise and
professional manner and be able to work in collaboration with nurse
manager to provide comprehensive, cost effective care and to
support a problem solving approach to issues. Assess, plan,
document and evaluate patient care in an adult locked psychiatric
unit. Participates in quality improvement projects. Administers
medications and treatments as needed. Acts as a resource for
nursing issues and keeps abreast of all aspects of assigned patient
care. Contributes to multidisciplinary treatment planning by
bringing a nursing focus to team collaboration and contributing to
multidisciplinary treatment planning. Communicates effectively with
health team members. Interacts effectively with patients, families
and significant others. Reports directly to Nurse Manager and will
be assigned according to the needs of the
unit.Qualifications/Experience:Current MA RN Licensure
required.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
preferredCurrent American Heart Association for Healthcare
Providers BLS certification required1 year previous mental health
experience in a locked unit strongly requiredNewly hired candidates
are required to successfully complete a job specific physical

experienced RNs with 2 years of experience in the specialty hired
